Micro-compounder

Xplore MC 15 micro-compounder

Compounding process is a common processing technique used to form plastic formulations by mixing and/or blending polymers and additives in a molten state to achieve the desired characteristics. Micro-compounding refers to the mixing or processing of polymer formulations in the melt on a very small scale, typically several ml. The advantage of the use of a micro-compounder is that its faster and reliable with much smaller samples and at much less investment costs, thus speeding up the innovation process of polymer materials, pharmaceutical, biomedical and nutritional applications.

The Explore MC 15 equipped with a 15ml mixing cell with two screws that can operate at co- and counter modes. Robust instrument that can be operated easily. The processing temperature can be controlled in 2×3 separate barrel heating zones, which also enables to process with a temperature gradient over the barrel, or directly via an additional melt thermocouple. Maximum operating temperature 400 °C with heating time (from 80 to 240 °C) in less than 10 min. Screw speed continuously variable 1 – 250 RPM with maximum torque: 10 Nm per screw.
